What is SLS? SLS stands for Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. It is a chemical used as a foaming agent and surfactant in shampoos, body washes, soaps, toothpaste, and household cleaners. It traps dirt so that dirt can be easily rinsed away, but it can cause dryness, scalp or skin irritation.
